EUvsVirus Hackathon

I am very happy to be a juror of the #EUvsVirushashtag#hackathon.

In these couple of days, I am evaluating more than 40 #projects in the #Businesscontinuity challenge, with a focus on #Team efficiency.

In a moment when a lot of discussion is going on about European cohesion this kind of project is also important to show the vitality of the joint #Europeancommunity and it is really amazing to see how much energy and motivation there are behind the efforts.

The hackathon has been put in place in less than a week, has hosted 20,000+ participants and 2.000+ projects.

What strikes me from the projects I am evaluating is that at least half of them tackle the problems linked to forced isolation and working from home. It seems that we are missing out the office life especially its rituals and chats, that are an important part of work efficiency and personal #wellbeing. The solutions proposed are really various, some with surprising gamification ideas.

My #takeout from this is that we have to better know and acknowledge the importance of in #person "informal chats" and #serendipity moments at work, also when designing #training programs.

How will we solve this in a #newnormal" working from home environment?
